This instrument is very well preserved for its age. It is an amber colored base with a deep red varnish. Overall, it is structurally sound and plays very well. It simply said Giovanni Polo Maggini, made in Germany.

This violin has been re voiced using Simenon chambers gen 8 plate thickness maps. It now has a loud, dark and gritty tone suitable for fiddle, bluegrass or classical music. The label was destroyed while re voicing the instrument.

Vintage Giovanni Polo Maggini violin wonderful example of an antique German Maggini full size trade violin. The varnish is stunning. Also, it has a new glued in bass bar instead of the carved in bass bar it previously had. Maggini is printed on the back in black just below the heel.

It has a small repaired crack on the treble side f hole.
