The tone sounds good when plucking. The back and sides have pretty nice figuring. It's a solid instrument and would only gain in value over time.
It's full size since I don't have a bow for it anymore, it's been a while since i've even played it myself. To me, it has a very good tone, but i'm not very good at violin and i've never heard anyone else play it.
